“Our architects ability to take my ideas and transform them into wonderful design elements was exceptional. Their knowledge of the construction process and detail-oriented approach made the entire project seem effortless. Our ability to connect and work as a team made this project a truly enjoyable experience.”

We worked closely with the owner, an interior decorator and repeat client, in implementing her vision for this house renovation, which included changes to the exterior and interior as well as newly landscaped grounds. Located in the town of Darien, the house underwent an elegant makeover. A pair of French doors surrounded by an expanse of large paned windows replaced the 1970s-era sliding-glass doors, for example, while new carriage-style doors were installed on the garage.

In the interior, the project was kept within budget by blending carefully selected off-the-shelf pieces with higher-end custom finishes. For example, in the remodeled kitchen the original layout was retained and new cabinets upgraded with custom finish paint and quality hardware were installed, along with marble countertops. In the office bathroom, classic white ceramic tile was enhanced with marble inlay and custom soap niche. The master bath, however, was given a complete luxury makeover. The palette of light colors and abundance of mirrors and glass transformed the long, narrow bathroom into an airy, expansive space that feels much larger than it is.

The overall look of the remodeled home is classic and timeless, with echoes of a formal French country house. Andrade Architecture provided both architectural and construction management services, covering virtually all the client’s needs, from creating the initial schematics to overseeing the construction to sourcing all the finishes, including the tile, stone, fixtures, and cabinetry.
